"For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth." (Isaiah 62:1)

AND NOW FOR THE PROMISED GOOD NEWS …

Add my father's name to the list of many who've defied the doctors'
odds.

It was but a few days ago, that my father, in his 80s, was in the
ICU. The situation looked grim.

I sent out a note to those subscribed here requesting -- almost
begging -- that readers please pray for my him and do an extra act
of kindness in his merit. I've continued to make the request every
day since. To date, nearly 15,000 notes of encouragement have
arrived. Many wrote that not only were they acting, but they've
enlisted others to do so as well.

The letters came from all over the globe.

And they reflected a cross-section of faiths.

On May 2, "Pesach Sheini", the Jewish holiday of "second chances",
my father WAS RELEASED FROM THE HOSPITAL. Still weak, he is now
entering rehab. There's no doubt that when at least 15,000
individuals sincerely act as advocates for a TOTAL STRANGER, a great
impression is made On High.

I believe it wasn't the numbers as much as the sincerity. "There's
nothing as whole as a broken heart", wrote the great Chassidic
master, the Kotzker Rebbe. Science, the "religion" of too many
doctors, deals with numbers and statistics. Prayer and faith have
the ability to alter realities.

To be frank, it has not been easy running JWR as a one-man-show.
(Yes, most can't believe it's just me here). Especially at appeal
time, when less than 1% respond, I re-think my sanity. But the
response from my readers now, in what I hope will result in many
more years of my father's life, has made the nearly ten years of
daily toil worth it all.

With thanks to the Creator -- and additional thanks to those who
nudged Him -- I remain;

In gratitude and friendship,
Binyamin L. Jolkovsky

PS: PLEASE continue to pray for my father, Yehudah ben (Hebrew for:
"son of ") Rivka and in his merit perform an EXTRA act of kindness
to help make our world a better place. Please, too, encourage others
to do the same through prayer lists, etc.
